Prostate Health

by Donald Brown, ND

Prostate Health is a  worry of many men as they age is, "How can I maintain prostate health?" One answer may lie in a unique combination of two herbs specifically designed with prostate health in mind-Sabal (saw palmetto) and Urtica (nettle root).

Why Combine Sabal & Urtica?

Sabal and Urtica provide a multi-faceted attack on those factors thought to impact prostate and urinary tract health. Sabal has been found to reduce levels of dihydrotestosterone (an extremely active form of testosterone) in the prostate, and is thought to do this by inhibiting the activity of the enzyme 5-alpha-reductase.1 Recent studies have also found that Sabal helps keep growth factors in-check that may contribute to changes in the prostate.2

Urtica adds a second level of attack by inhibiting the enzyme aromatase. It's the enzyme responsible for converting testosterone into an active form of estrogen known as 17 beta-estradiol-- another potential culprit interacting with prostate health.

Clinically Tested
Studies with thousands of men in Europe have shown Sabal and Urtica to be effective and safe.3,4,5 The herbal combination had a very low incidence of troublesome side effects, such as erectile dysfunction, and did not interfere with the proper reading of prostate-specific antigen (PSA)--an important marker in the bloodstream used to detect cancer.
